ABOUT US
The beginning of folklore in Draslajca was observed back in 1958 when for the first time the younger people of Draslajca swam in the rich waters of the Macedonian folklore. On 06.04.1978 the company AKUD "Goce Delchev" was officially registered and continued actively to work for 20 years in the village Draslajca. In 1992, due to the destruction of the old school where the company worked and not having enough resources to continue AKUD "Goce Delchev" was transfered to work in the city Struga.
In 2011 the company faced many problems due to migration, change of name and the age of the documents which were in the time Yugoslavia and so, on 06.04.2011 they reregistered under the current name but this time in a broad form to include our overall development of our place. The full name of the company is - Association for local development and cultural artistic society "DRASLAJCHANKA" which represents an independent, nongovernmental, nonprofit organization that accomplishes its goals through collaboration with experts and development of projects, holding seminars, maintaining professional workshops and similar activities in order to promote the local development and activate the young through cultural and artistic association. Registration initiative is taken by two young enthusiasts Ljupco Milosheski and Negovan Milosheski with great support from the local community and the people of the village Draslajca's chirch board.
The elected president is Ljupco Milosheski. The board members are - Kristina Krsteska, Negovan Milosheski, Trajan Dalcheski and Krume Koseski.
KUD "Draslajchanka" is under guidance of two experienced choreographers - Ljupco Milosheski and Krume Kosteski.
KUD "Draslajchanka" gets its name by the place of origin where the company started which is the village Draslajca, and Draslajchanka means a girl resident who lives in Draslajca. Because of the beautiful colors on the costume, the beautiful folk embroidery of the girl of Draslajca, the amazing look of the entire folk costumes we decided that the emblem of the company should have a girl - a girl from Draslajca dressed in bridal folk costume.
Macedonian folk presented through the dancing of our dancers has left everyone speechless, and we for this we have won awards in our country but also abroad. In our many years of existence we have taken part in numerous international festivals in Yugoslavia, Italia, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Egypt and many others.
KUD "Draslajchanka" has 120 members. It is divided into three groups: beginners from ages 6 to 11, amateurs from 11 to 15 and from 2011 KUD "Draslajchanka" introduced a dose of professionalism in their work and is now working with dancers from ages 15 to 19 with the right to call them professionals for their age.
